Why I LOVE Building Small Business Website Templates on Squarespace

One question I tend to get a lot is why I build websites on Squarespace instead of WordPress, Wix, Shopify, or another platform.

And the short answer?

Because most of my clients are creative business owners. They're artists, makers, coaches, photographers, shop owners, service providers, and women building businesses they actually want to enjoy running.

They don't want to spend all weekend troubleshooting clunky plugins or wondering why something broke after an update.

All they want to do update a photo, change a price, publish a blog or add a new service.

They really don't want to do too much. And probably don't have the time.

That's exactly why I love Squarespace.

It's super beginner friendly without looking super beginner.

One of my favorite things about Squarespace is that it's pretty approachable.

The editor is visual, clean, and easy to learn. Once I transfer a template over to a client, they're usually surprised by how much they can edit themselves.

That's important to me, because I like for things to be easy for everyone.

I don't want my clients to feel like they need to hire a developer every single time they want to swap out an image or update their homepage.. because let's be real. That's taxing.

If you're completely new to the platform, Squarespace has an amazing Getting Started Guide and a full Help Center that walks you through everything from launching your site to editing pages.

Helpful resources:

The designs look polished from day ONE.

I'm a designer.

I really care about typography, spacing, photography, and creating websites that feel intentional.

Squarespace gives me a beautiful foundation to build on. Instead of spending hours fixing messy layouts, I can focus on creating an experience that actually reflects someone's brand.

That means my clients end up with a website that feels elevated without paying for weeks months of custom development.

[however, shameless plug.. if you do want a custom design, I do that too. In 7 days flat.]

Everything lives in one place.

Another reason I recommend Squarespace is that it keeps things simple.

Your website, hosting, security, blogging, ecommerce, analytics, and domains can all live in one platform. It's quite straightforward and you don't have to jump through a million hoops. Squarespace basically walks you through that stuff.

It's built to grow.

A lot of people might think Squarespace is only for portfolios. Or maybe they don't even know what Squarespace is best for. But whether you want to sell products, offer services, publish blogs, collect email subscribers, or book appointments, Squarespace has tools for all of it.

As your business grows, your website can grow too!

Why I keep choosing it.

I've worked with enough platforms to know that every one has strengths AND quirks.

But for the women I design for, Squarespace consistently gives them the best balance of beautiful design, ease of use, and long term manageability.

That's why I create all of my website templates on Squarespace.

I really want you to have a website you feel excited to share, not one you're afraid to touch after launch.

If you're thinking about building your first website or upgrading the one you already have, Squarespace is still the platform I recommend first.
